Privacy Policy

1. Data we collect

Account data from your sign-in provider (name, email, profile image). Profile and company information you submit during onboarding (including country, industry sector, and optional website or LinkedIn URL).

Identity verification data processed by Stripe Identity (identity documents and biometric/selfie images are collected and processed by Stripe on our behalf; we receive verification status, not your ID images, unless Stripe is configured to share additional results).

Payment data processed by Stripe (we receive membership status, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers; we do not store full card numbers).

Messages you post in channels, cached translations, and basic usage logs (for example, sign-in time and security events).

2. Purposes of use

To create and administer your membership, verify identity, collect dues, operate channels and (when launched) matching features, translate messages, provide member directory listings you choose to make visible, communicate about the service, improve the platform, and comply with law.

3. Sharing

We share data with processors who support the service, including Stripe (payments and Identity), sign-in providers (Google, Facebook, LinkedIn), and, when enabled, an AI translation provider. We do not sell personal data.

Other members can see profile and company information you make visible in the community. Administrators can access account, membership, and channel data as needed to operate the service.

4. International transfers

Processors may store or process data outside Japan (for example, Stripe or an AI provider). Where we transfer personal data abroad, we take measures required under the APPI, including using parties in countries designated as providing an adequate level of protection or implementing appropriate contracts and safeguards.

5. Retention and security

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, accounting, and dispute-related retention. We apply administrative and technical measures appropriate to the nature of the data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

6. Your rights

Subject to the APPI and other applicable law, you may request disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, or cessation of use of your personal information. Contact press@startuplady.org. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

7. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to keep you signed in, remember language preference, and protect the service. We do not currently use advertising cookies.
